Once you obtain a security guard license, New York State requires all security guards to complete the 8 Hour Annual In-Service Training within 12 months of finishing the 16-Hour On-the-Job Training, and annually thereafter. Knight Training Institute (KTI NYC) offers this comprehensive online course via Zoom, designed to reinforce foundational skills while providing updates on the latest security practices. Key topics include the role of a security guard, legal powers and limitations, emergency response, communications, access control, ethics, and professional conduct. Students must attend the full course and achieve a minimum passing score of 70% to earn a certificate of completion from KTI.
